In the summer of 2062, the two big Starcorp families — Cherry-Hyrax and Amber-Peacock, though neither of these four people came (Amber died and the others were too old and didn't want to travel) — went on a much anticipated trip to Froggy Island (oh it's named StarLand now by the way) again. Most of them hadn't been here for years, and miss their repurposed1 Winter Palace deeply.
As soon as they arrived, a typhoon suddenly veered course and headed towards the island, prohibiting any boats from entering or leaving. You can tell I've been playing Umineko When They Cry. Just watching a playthrough though.
By the time the storm cleared, suppliers in Coastline sent a boat delivering fresh food, which was scheduled daily but paused during the typhoon. What they encountered was shocking. Charred remains of unidentifiable human parts were lying all over the place. The entire Winter Palace had been burnt to the ground. Only the front steps were spared.
And a single jar of a reddish-pink soul was placed at the center.
Experienced Flower City police Tephra was called to the case, and he brought along his trusty old friend detective Melody. Collaborating with the CRS, they recovered the memory in the soul, which turned out to belong to Bunchberry Beauty Ironheart. Through Bunchberry's eyes, they bore witness to how everybody on that island had been killed one by one, and the killer was one of them.
Though Bunchberry never knew who. So now it's up to Tephra and Melody to find out. Fortunately though, she was there at every corpse discovery. Unfortunately, her vision was still limited. But that single soul was the only resource they had.
Well, what's going to happen to Starcorp then, since most of the highest levels are dead? No worries. Kismet had a lot of backups ready. Starcorp still lives.
