Tomato had somehow became some important Bauhinian agent in Moreland. He was the sole holder of some really important information. Really important. And to be safe, he was the only one who knew about it. (What specifically, IDK)
It was right before he was going to meet an important contact. Only he could meet them, because only he knew the important information.
And he fell off the stairs, hit his head, and lost his memory.
He spent a couple days roaming around in Moreland wondering who he was, before the Bauhinians retrieved him. They really needed to find out what Tomato remembered. But feeding his soul to someone else wouldn't work, because that person would also be amnesiac.
They sent Tomato to the soul facility, where Tangerine (Entity's friend and colleague; doesn't have a profile here) extracted his soul and sent his body to cremation.
They gave the CRS a deadline. Here's Tomato's soul. We need whatever info he knows, and the traditional way of consuming won't work.
Starlight got to work, trying to figure out how to extract Tomato's memories, which will also help her in examining her mother's memories.
After hearing about how they managed to serialize a soul into data, they sent Sparrow, a computer science specialist, to join the research program. They were very cheerful and too bright on the eyes, which annoyed Starlight.
